Christian Formation of our Children
is a priority
for Trinity.
We offer
the following groups and classes:
Nursery: Infants
to children age 3
Our Nursery is a bright welcoming room totally dedicated to our youngest children. It is staffed by
an adult nursery caregiver who is there every week, as well as an adult assistant. The atmosphere is nurturing, warm,
and positive. The Nursery is available from 10:00am to the completion of the 10:15 service, although children often
join their parents for the Holy Communion portion of the service. The Nursery is also open for the Adult Forum at 9
am and special events after the 10:15 am service.
Grades 1-3
This class uses the Episcopal Children's Curriculum. This
is a three year curriculum focusing on Bible, Worship and Episcopal traditions. During the year we use lessons that
build on the natural curiosity of this age through experiential activities bringing Biblical characters and the history of
Christianity to life for students. We focus on people and relationships, and learn through activities
that are fun and interesting.
Grades 4-5
We use the Episcopal Children's Curriculum particularly
created for this grade level which engages children who can now think about situations from more than one perspective and
begin to apply Scriptural understanding to everyday life. Storytelling now becomes lively interaction between students
and teacher. There is a hands-on focus that makes children active participants in their spiritual journey.
Grades 7-8
We use Episcopal Curriculum for Youth (ECY) a three year
series based on Call, Covenant, and Community. The curriculum challenges young people to test their values in
the context of their Christian faith, thereby equipping them to make smart choices about tough issues. Biblical characters
come to life as real people who dealt with issues of good and evil, happiness, truth and ultimate meaning.
Confirmation Class
We have a confirmation class for our 8-12 graders. The class, which runs for 6 weeks during January
and February 2006. We learn about the Episcopal Church, its history, its unique place in Christianity, its approach to Holy
Scripture, the Sacraments, the Trinity and especially the person of Jesus. It is part of a program that includes
retreats at places such as the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC, and culminates with Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.
Youth Group
We also have a youth group for grades 6-9 that meets twice a month at 4pm in Miller Hall for
different activities. These activities can range from service to religion, to just fun with friends. Everyone
is always welcome!
